Braving the storm that feels like it will never end

Right now, most of us are probably wondering when all this fear and uncertainty will end, and what will our lives be like when this pandemic is finally over.

The best we can do for ourselves and those we care about right now, is to find the inner strength within us to be as kind and helpful as we can to each other. Having faith in yourself to help those around you stay calm, is sometimes the best thing we can do for others and ourselves.

Empower yourself with the inner strength and faith to prevail past the difficult times.  Remember to be kind to yourself If you become uncertain when facing events, you have no control over. Social isolation is not a normal human condition and being alone is more about isolating yourself then allowing loneliness in. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine assembled an expert committee to analyze and research these findings.

However, heartened by such efforts, Dr. Blazer cautioned that “social isolation isn’t going away.” He worries about what will happen when some degree of normalcy dawns — and millions of isolated or lonely elders recede from public attention.   “We’ll find ways to adapt to this, but my hope for older people is that we don’t forget them,” he said. “If this epidemic has taught us anything, it’s that we have to reach out.

The moments that are most difficult now, could be about not knowing when you’ll be able to touch another human being again.” As someone with no pets, no partner — not even a plant once said, she felt profoundly lonely. Proving humans need other humans or animal company…

More to that point-It’s of interest to note, the current demand to adopt a pet has surged during this lock down!  Yes, this is, a good time, to consider adopting a pet for companionship, company, and something live you can actually touch and hold.   Having someone to touch (which may include kissing) is important. It drives up the oxytocin system in the brain and generates feelings of calm and attachment.

So now that we have hopefully empowered you to fortify your current situation.
Please share with us what you have been doing during the Spring of Corona?
Are you learning to cook unusual cuisine? Have you written your biography? Did you teach yourself to play chess? Did you know Play triggers the brain’s dopamine system to give you energy, focus, motivation, and optimism!

So, What’s up with you?
